The opportunity

Den første tid med baby gives expectant parents access to reliable information across pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. The platform combines accessible information with interactive features that help users explore content and return to useful resources over time. My work focused on turning established designs into a responsive, accessible, and maintainable web experience.

My role

• Implementing front-end pages and features based on supplied design specifications
• Clarifying requirements with internal team members and project stakeholders
• Developing reusable modules for interactive content
• Working with WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, and Tailwind CSS
• Supporting testing, validation, and iterative improvements
• Applying WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements, particularly for interactive elements
• Using Git and supporting development and deployment workflows

Accessibility and interaction

A central challenge was translating visual designs into interfaces that remain clear and usable for different users. Interactive features required particular attention to keyboard access, understandable behaviour, consistent patterns, and accessibility standards. The platform included reusable modules for content such as quizzes, saved items, and video resources. Building these elements required considering both the user experience and the technical flexibility needed across different parts of the platform.

Context

Den første tid med baby is an accessible digital information platform for expectant parents. I contributed to the project during my web-development internship at Twentyfour, a Danish software agency. The visual design was provided by an external design agency, while my work focused on technical front-end implementation, interactive functionality, and accessibility.

Outcome

The result was a publicly available, accessible information platform with reusable front-end components and interactive features. The project strengthened my practical experience in web development, accessibility implementation, quality assurance, and collaborative software delivery. It also showed me that accessibility needs to be considered throughout implementation, rather than added at the end.
